Synopsis:
BNMR:CP5 : Adsorber changed.
Equipment/Beam Line:
Description:

Adsorber was changed.  This is a tricky situation with the location of the compressor.  Compressor needed to be removed from its location to lift off the lid and exchange the adsorber underneath.

This is the recommended procedure.

*Turn off the compressor and let it warm up to room temperature.  Lock out the power plug.

*Shut off cooling water supply West of and outside the cage.  there are two ball valves.

*Remove the two water connections on the front panel of the compressor.  11/16" wrench.  drain the water into a small tray.  100mL is sufficient.

*Remove the two Helium lines from the front panel.  Push them aside.  1 1/8" & 1 3/16" special wrenches.

*Remove the motor drive power cord (mil. spec.) green connector on the front panel of the compressor.

*Remove the Temperature sensor wire from the cryopump vacuum vessel.  (Special black connector)

*Vent vacuum vessel of the cryopump and remove the block valve BNMR:RVC5.

*Remove the two socket head cap screws on the other end of the water copper lines.  This bulk head only needs to move a little.  3/16" allen key.

*Carefully slide out the compressor and perform adsorber change as prescribed in the manual.  You will need a phillips screw driver, 7/16" wrench and the 1 1/8" and 1 3/16" wrenches.

*Reverse procedure to reinstall the compressor and perform active purge of helium before operating the pump system.
