Maintenance for DRP-02

Date:
Friday, September 29, 2017
Synopsis:
Tip Seals Changed
Equipment/Beam Line:
Description:

Tip Seals were changed.  There was a considerable amount of Teflon dust and there was a suspect section of the tip seal groove.  I'm hoping that piece does not break off.  Otherwise a good pump.  It pumped down to 20mTorr within 10 minutes.  Test in progress till Saturday afternoon. 30th September 2017.

Tip seals run in and the squeeking sound returned.  Pump motor was changed and squeak remained.  Pump opened up to see if there was an obvious reason for the squeak.  There was a section of anodized aluminum scored.  Pump reassembled and tested and still squeeked.

Pump to be taken apart again to see if the 6004VRLD bearing is the culprit.
